History and Background
The Youth Development and Voices Initiative (YOVI) was founded in 2006 and was officially registered as a non-profit, youth-focused organization in 2009, having identified the numerous challenges facing young people in Ghana. The organization is headquartered in Tamale, the regional capital of the Northern Region, with a satellite office in Sang, the capital of the Mion District of the Northern Region.
YOVI was founded by young people who showed concern for the plight of the rural population in the Northern Region of Ghana, especially the conditions of many youths, women, children, and persons with disabilities (PWDs), and pledged their commitment to work together to improve the prospects and opportunities of these vulnerable groups.
To work together with stakeholders, development partners, and communities towards the sustainable and inclusive socio-economic transformation of communities.
A society free from poverty and gender inequality, all forms of abuse including violence against women and children, with improved quality education, health and wellbeing for all.
