YOVI Ghana believes that equipping adolescents with comprehensive knowledge of Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR) is vital for their well-being, dignity, and future success. Our Youth Education Program on SRHR adopts a two-pronged approach, targeting both in-school and out-of-school adolescents. For in-school adolescents, we provide age-appropriate information and skills to inform decisions about their sexual and reproductive health in Basic and Second Cycle Schools. Also, our skills training program for out-of-school youth, particularly girls, incorporates SRHR education to enhance their knowledge, confidence, and economic empowerment. The program aims to improve knowledge and understanding of SRHR, enhance skills for healthy relationships and decision-making, promote gender equality and empowerment, reduce teen pregnancies, STIs, and HIV/AIDS, and foster a supportive environment for adolescent development.
Through comprehensive initiatives, including sex education, menstrual hygiene management, HIV/AIDS and STI prevention, gender-based violence prevention, and life skills training, we empower adolescents to take control of their health. Trained facilitators deliver interactive sessions, peer education, and mentorship programs while engaging with schools, communities, and parents. Adolescents participating in our SRHR Education Program develop confidence, self-esteem, and informed decision-making skills, build healthy relationships, achieve better academic performance, and contribute to a safer, more supportive community. Out-of-school youth, particularly girls, also gain enhanced economic empowerment.
